GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Process pump type AY is a new product on the basis of old type Y which is suitable for renewing equipment with the aim of saving energy to meet the requirements of modem construction. The pump type AY has the following features:
1. Bearing housing 35,50 and 60 are changed into 45,55 and 70 to raise the reliability.
2. The design of wet parts adopts hydraulic pattern of high efficiency and energy-saving. The average efficiency of the pump is higher 5 to 8% than that of old process pump type Y.
3. The construction installation dimensions and performance of pump type AY are as those of type Y process pump in order to renew and reform.
4. The common parts can be exchangeable and suitable for some series of pump.
5. The grade of material used is mainly grade Il and III. The material of parts, such as bearing housing'is divided into two kinds, i.e. cast steel and cast iron which are suitable for cold area, open site and ship yard.
6. The cooling for bearing is divided into three kinds: air, fan and water cooling.
The performance range is as follows:
Capacity: Q = 2.5 to 600 m³/h
Head: H =30 to 670 m

CONSTUCTION
The construction of process pump type AY is divided into seven kinds: single-stage, single-suction, double-stage and single-suction etc. For the construction, see the drawings from 1 to 7.
The pump casing is split radially and installed horizontally, centerline mounted. The suction and discharge nozzle flanges are cast together on the pump casing and vertical upwards. The stuffing boxes and pump cover are cast together which can be installed with soft packing seal and mechanical seals. The water-cooled chamber jacket, which can be selected, is installed outside of shaft sealing chamber.
The impeller is cast integrally and balanced statically. The axial thrust of pump is balanced mainly by balancing disc, balancing drum and thrust bearing for multi-stage pump.
A journal ball bearing and thrust ball bearing arranged back-to-back are installed on the bearing housing. And sliding bearing is mounted for multi-stage pump type 65AY to 150AY. The bearing housing of single-stage or two-stage pump is furnished with cooling fins that can be cooled by air and by fan. The bearing housing also can be cooled by water.
A flexible membrane spacer coupling assembly is installed on the pump to disassemble impeller, shaft, bearing, shaft sealing, etc, without disturbing suction and discharge pipeline.

1.Shaft sealing chamber, bearing or pump bracket are cooled by water according to temperature and application.
The capacity of cooling water recommended is 0.3 to 0.7 m³/h for each pipe, the pressure is 0.2 to 0.3 MPa.2.Sealing flush is changed according to the working conditions such as pumping medium, temperature and pressure, etc.
The capacity of sealing liquid for each pump cavity is shown as the table. The flushing liquid can be supplied inside or outside of pump.Norminal Dia. of seal(mm) 13-47 48-59 60-84 85-95 96-133 Mean quench liq. flow(m³/h) 0.18 0.24 0.36 0.48 0.66 Generally, the pressure of sealing liquids is 0.07 to 0.1MPa higher than that of sealing chamber. If the pumped medium is easy
to be vaporized, the pressure should be 0.175 to 0.2MPa higher than vaporizing pressure.3. The steam pipe will be installed when the temperature of medium decreases until crystallizing, the pressure is about 0.1MPa.
